Students block Doda Bhaderwah road against non-availability of transport facility | KNO

Students of different educational institutions included Govt Higher Secondary boys and Govt Degree College Bhaderwah held protest demonstration on Doda Bhaderwah road near Amira nagar and disrupted movement of traffic for about one hour here today.The students early in the morning came out on the road and started protest demonstration against transporters .They blocked Doda Bhaderwah road and stalled the movement of vehicular traffic. They were protesting against over charging fare from them by the Sumo and matador operators and not stopping for them . They alleged that students moving in auto , sumo and matador are are forcibly thrown down many times by the conductors and conductors . The female students are also harassed and made to pay full fare and drivers not stop for them hours . The students shouted slogans against Transport Minister, Regional Transport Officer, and Administration.They alleged that students traveling in mini buses, sumos and buses are not giving them student’s concession and forcibly de-boarded from the vehicles and demanded transport facility between Amira Nagar to Bhaderwah town . Students also alleged that the minibus operators were plying public transport on the route on their own terms and conditions instead of obeying the general transport rules .The female students are also harassed, misbehaved and made to pay full fare by the transporters, they added. They warned the Administration to intervene and solve the issue otherwise they will block Doda Bhaderwah road for long time in near future and stall the movement of vehicles and also start direct-action against the operators of various vehicles . A large number of buses and other vehicles remained caught in massive traffic jam for long.Later, some senior police and civil officers reached the spot and pacified the agitating students to look into their grievances and resolve the issue. The students on assurance from Administration then lifted dharna from the road.
